Mölndals IBF was one of 81 clubs from Sweden that had teams playing during Göteborg Cup Innebandy 2016. They participated with two teams in Herrjuniorer 18 (1997-98) and Herrar respectively. The team in Herrjuniorer 18 (1997-98) made it to the the Final in Slutspeland won it over Arlanda IBK by 5-1.

In addition to this, Mölndals IBF have participated in Göteborg Cup Innebandy before. During Göteborg Cup Innebandy 2015, Mölndals IBF had two teams playing in Pojkar 10 (2004) and Flickor 13 (2001) respectively. The team in Flickor 13 (2001) made it to the the in Gruppspeland won it over ONYX IBS by 2-1.

Mölndals IBF comes from Mölndal which lies approximately 6 km from Göteborg, where Göteborg Cup Innebandy takes place. The area around Mölndal does also provide 25 additional clubs participating during Göteborg Cup Innebandy 2016 (Among others: Lindås Waves IBK, Sävedalens IBK, IBF Göteborg, FBC Lerum, IK Zenith, Partille IBS, Marstrands IBK, IBK Göteborg, Lindome IBK and IBF Älvstranden).
